Constitutional Court Hearing Set for June 24, 2025
On June 24, 2025, the Italian Constitutional Court will hear a pivotal case concerning the rules governing judicial recognition of Italian citizenship by descent.The case stems from a constitutional challenge raised by the Court of Bologna before the government enacted new legislation (via Decree-Law in March/May 2025) that changed the procedural framework for these citizenship cases.
Although our firm and clients are not direct parties in the Constitutional Court proceedings, Coco Ruggeri Law has submitted a legal brief (memoria difensiva) in cases where regional courts in Italy have requested a suspension of proceedings, pending the outcome of this constitutional ruling.
