Moving to Italy, buying property or managing family matters from abroad often starts with a few practical steps: an Italian tax code, a bank account, a signed power of attorney. We help foreign clients complete these steps correctly, so that the larger matters can move forward without avoidable delays.
Each request is reviewed individually. The documents and procedures required can vary depending on your nationality, your residence status and the office involved, so we confirm the current requirements before we begin.
Power of Attorney (POA)
A power of attorney allows a trusted person, or our firm, to act on your behalf in Italy when you cannot be present, for example to sign a property deed, accept an inheritance or file documents with a public office. We draft the power of attorney in Italian and English, explain how it must be signed and legalized in your country, and make sure it can be used for its intended purpose in Italy.
Codice Fiscale (Italian Tax Code)
The codice fiscale is the Italian tax identification code. It is needed for most practical steps in Italy, such as buying property, signing a lease, opening a bank account or setting up utilities. We can request it on your behalf and help you correct errors on an existing code.
Carta d’Identità Elettronica (Electronic Identity Card)
The Carta d’Identità Elettronica is the Italian electronic identity card, issued by the municipality to people registered as residents there. We explain whether you are eligible, help you prepare the required documents and assist with the appointment at the municipal office.
Lease Agreements
Whether you are renting a home in Italy or leasing out a property you own, we review or draft the lease agreement, explain the main obligations for landlord and tenant, and assist with the registration of the contract where the law requires it.
Bank Accounts
Opening a bank account in Italy can require several documents, including a codice fiscale and proof of identity. We help you understand what your chosen bank will ask for, prepare the documentation and coordinate with the bank so that the account can be opened as smoothly as possible.
If you need help with one of these steps, or with a related practical matter not listed here, contact us and tell us briefly about your situation. We will let you know how we can assist.
